Residential

A family home in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the façade of this home presents as three forms clearly defined by their materiality: brick, timber, concrete render.

Luke Fry Architecture and Interior Design operated with great agility on this project as the scope changed throughout. Initially intended as a renovation, it evolved into a brand new build with a changing brief to accommodate an expanding family.  A self-contained ‘apartment’ was also incorporated into the new plans, connected to the main building but with its own entrance.

Working to economic restraints resulted in smart, innovative solutions like the addition of an above ground plunge pool connected to the rear deck. And instead of concealing the necessary interior structural circular columns, they were made a visual feature with detailed brick tile cladding.

As a home designed for a family with young children and high foot traffic, fittings have been pared-back and left unadorned to withstand regular use. The interiors are largely dictated by a muted, tonal palette with the exception of the tiled kitchen island expressed in a rich matt blue.
